The
University Greenhouse, formerly located west of Cook
Hall and facing University Avenue, the present site
of DeGarmo Hall, was completed in 1938 at a cost of
$25,000.
The greenhouse consisted of a small brick office and
a glass palm house with extended wings. It also contained
a small classroom, a workshop and a garage/storage space
for the university trucks.
The Greenhouse was built to supply the University with
locally grown plants and flowers for the beautification
of the campus and for floral arrangements for various
occasions at the University. It was demolished
in the 1960s.
