Historic Illinois State

Lincoln Gates

Abraham Lincoln The second official gateway to the university was completed in 1998-99 on University Street between Cook Hall and Edwards Hall and named after Abraham Lincoln. A plaque with Lincoln’s portrait is mounted on the north side of the gatewayLincoln Gateway with a dedication plaque on the south side. The new gateway is one of several that will be constructed at locations across campus serving as designated entryways to Illinois State University.
It is similar in design to the Jesse W. Fell Memorial Gateway design, with globe lights on the top and surrounding landscaping.
