Creating a small campus environment.

The Master Plan addresses campus location, size, form, character, image and environment. It includes proposed new building growth while at the same time defining outdoor spaces that unify all functions of the University.

The Master Plan is updated approximately every seven years and this update to the plan reflects the implementation of the University’s new strategic plan, Educating Illinois: An Action Plan for Distinctiveness and Excellence at Illinois State University 2001-2007. Action 71 of Educating Illinois calls for an update of The Master Plan to reflect the University’s values, goals, and actions.

The Master Plan is accessible in its entirety through downloading The Master Plan. Maps of Illinois State University (current and future), campus districts and neighborhoods, greenspace, street vacation, and land acquisition are available as illustrations of the visions of The Master Plan. The Report Card identifies implementation teams and tracks progress and accomplishments of The Master Plan.

News and Updates provides a summary of those actions from The Master Plan currently being addressed by Illinois State University. History of The Master Plan describes our planning processes and Historic Illinois State chronicles the physical development of Illinois State’s buildings and structures.
